Description
Another great miniature species hailing from elevations between 1600 and 3000m in Venezuela, Ecuador, and Colombia. Flowers are 3" in size, showy and open at the ends of long, pipe-cleaner-like spikes.
Established plants growing in air cone pots with tree fern fiber. These also will do very well in New Zealand sphagnum moss. Beautiful, dimpled leaves that are stiff with substance.
The flowers of this species are truly curious, as when the lip is disturbed by a small insect, it takes a few seconds, and the lip closes quickly to trap the insect's head against the pollen, thereby attaching it to the head to be carried to another plant for pollination.
Grow in intermediate to cool temps and provide good humidity. Can flower more than once per year. These grow into great specimen plants and seem quite hardy.
Only a few plants available. our particular clone is an exceptionally large flowered one. The sizes offered take a few years to achieve.
