A rare opportunity to own a mature Prosthechea cochleata, commonly known as the cockleshell orchid. This widespread species is found throughout Mexico, Central, and South America, and is prized for its easy-care nature, growing well under the same conditions as Cattleyas or Phalaenopsis.
Plants grow steadily over time and may develop attractive black markings on the foliage, similar to the one pictured for sale. Flower spikes can continue to extend and bloom for months, so avoid cutting them until they turn yellow. Large, mature specimens can flower for up to a year on the same spike, releasing a faint, sweet fragrance.
