CITES export Appendix II Hybrids
Beautiful star-shaped white flowers. These can grow to very large specimen size in a few years. Plants offered are single spike.
Intro:This intergeneric hybrid has Miltoniopsis, Brassia and Odontoglosum in its background. It has large 5 to 6 inch flowers colored in white with a small amount of purple spots towards the center of the petals and sepals. There is also a yellow area towards the upper part of the lip. The fragrance is complex with a combination of roses, green bananas and fresh ground pepper. The flowers are long lasting.Light:This plant prefers low to medium light from 1500 to 3000 foot candles being ideal. Excellent as a windowsill plant. Can be
grown under high pressure sodium lights but the spikes will be too tall for fluorescent light fixtures.Humidity:50% or higher is ideal. The use of humidity trays or room humidifiers is beneficial.Water:Use rain, distilled or reverse osmosis water for best results. It is best to Water in the morning so foliage is dry by nightfall. Water as the mix approaches dryness.Fertilizer:We highly recommend using Green Jungle Orchid Food, especially formulated to work with rain, distilled, reverse osmosis water or water low in alkalinity. Fertilize with Green Jungle every time you water if plants are planted in bark. Be sure to flush the mix with clear water only once per month to prevent fertilizer salt build up. For plants in moss or mounted on slabs feed every third or 4th watering as the moss holds a lot of nutrients.
GrowMore 20-10-20 Ureafree for municipal or well water. Use at the rate of ½ teaspoon per gallon. If using GrowMore with rain, distilled, or reverse osmosis water, add back in 5 - 10% municipal or well water to supply the necessary calcium and magnesium. Fertilize every other watering in the summer and every third watering in the winter.
Another fertilizer offered is: GrowMore 6-30-30 (Cymbidium and bloom boosting formula).Flowering:This plant can flower twice per year in spring or fall.Repotting:Repot once every year to year and a half using a medium grade bark mix. The best time for repotting is in spring after flowering.
