A fantastic Dendrobium species that bears pendant, furry-edged yellow flowers in the spring. The flowers are known to smell strongly of honey!
Known to be a challenging grower, but under the right conditions it will flourish:
This species is from monsoon forests and needs a dry rest period during the winter to flower properly and prevent root rot. The rest period for these plants should extend from approximately Halloween to Valentine's Day with fairly bright light and lower humidity. Once flower spikes appear, resume watering and fertilizing throughout the spring and summer months. Light levels for this species can be reduced during its growing period (as they would be under naturally cloud-heavy monsoon season skies). Best grown cool to intermediate year-round. Ours are doing well in sphagnum moss clay pots, but they can be grown in well-draining fine bark mix or slab-mounted if adequate humidity can be maintained.
Our currently available plants are leafless and in-spike as of 3/20/17 - they should flower and soon develop new, leafed growths and active roots.
