This species from Mexico produces large, 3 to 4-inch wide flowers that are stunning! Commonly referred to as Encyclia mariae, this species was reclassified along with 100 other species into the genus Prosthechea in 1998. A great compact grower, this species thrives in medium to bright light when watered as the potting mix just dries out. This plant does well in pots with good drainage potting material or mounted on slabs. This batch is growing in 2" net pots with bark, slipped into a 2.25" plastic pot.
The current batch has just developed their first bulbs and will be sprouting new growth spring of 2024. We expect these plants to flower in the spring of 2025.
