Description
This is our Pinus radiata pine bark mix with charcoal and perlite that provide proper aeration and drainage designed specifically for orchids. We use Kiwi bark, produced in New Zealand. For volume usage reference, a 5 liter bag will contain enough mix for six 5" azalea pots. 10 liter bags will be enough mix for twelve 5 inch containers.
Small Mix
This smaller size mix is good for seedlings or water-loving orchids like Phragmipedium. We usually use this mix in pots up to 4" in size for various orchids. The exception being Bulbophyllum, which grow excellently in it even when potted in large bulb pans.
Medium Mix - Orchiata
*Note, our Kiwi bark orchid is on back order, and for now we had to switch back to Orchiata, which is pre-fermented and holds more water out of the bag than Kiwi bark.
This is more of a standard medium-sized bark mix. Good for common Phalaenopsis, mid-sized Cattleya, Paphiopedilum and Oncidium and most orchids in general up to 6 or 7 inch containers.
Large Mix
Medium-coarse mix recommended for pots 6" or larger, or for plants that like to dry out faster in the smaller containers.
