Description
Established seedlings of the standard form of this beloved Brazilian species! Known for its compact growth and large, long-lasting 3–4 inch flowers, Cattleya walkeriana is often considered to have the most powerful and pleasant fragrance in the entire Cattleya genus. The blooms are typically soft lavender-pink with a rich magenta lip and appear on short, leafless pseudobulbs, making the plant particularly showy when in bloom.
Native to Brazil, where it grows on trees or rocks in bright, airy conditions. Provide good light and allow for a cooler, drier rest in winter with night temperatures below 65°F to encourage flowering. A classic and highly collectible species for any Cattleya grower.
We expect these plants to reach blooming size in 2027. First example photo is of the awarded parent 'Canaima's Sunny Boy' AM/AOS.
