Indigenous to Mexico, Nicaragua, Jamaica, and Cuba. It is very easy to grow in good humidity. Flowers heavily once established into 30 or more growths. Grow in partial shade. If given the space and time, this species has often grown into thousands of sprays of foliage and flowers. It grows fairly steadily and can reach an impressive size within a decade.

Plants are mounted on cork slabs, often growing outside of the slab.
