Description
This is made with a regular form and one of the aurea (yellow flower) form of coccinea. All flowers will be red. A cute and compact grower from the coastal forest of Brazil. It can flower any time of the year. It is interesting to note that this cross made with the yellow form of coccinea as one of the parents is warmth tolerant. We grew these in our warmest greenhouse right along with the Palaenopsis. They can flower twice per year in spring and fall. Sibbing 2 of these together will produce a small number of pure aureas. There is a bit of a yellowish cast to these flowers rather than the deep red one normally sees with coccinea.
