Compact, bottle brush type New Guinean Dendrobium; clusters of 10 to 20 small, green-tinged white flowers develop along the pseudobulbs from the middle, toward the apex of mature canes. Curiously, this plant can either have green leaves or purple-tinged leaves, however, the flowers will all be white and green.

It is said that prior to blooming, cutting back on fertilizer helps encourage flowering. These do not need a hard dry rest, even though they have the characteristics of other dendrobiums that do. It is normal for this species to have several pseudobulbs with no leaves at all. These are the ones that flower in spring to summer. Growths with leaves will not flower until the following year.
