This miniature species is native to the islands of the Southwest Pacific, where it grows in mosses on trees and rocks. This beautiful, compact orchid blooms with clusters of deep, 3/4" purple flowers that sparkle. The flowers can last for over three months under optimal conditions and the plant can flower up to twice per year with adequate culture. This wild type variety is known to produce streaks of purple pigmentation throughout its leaves as well.
In the wild, these tough orchids are exposed to alternating periods of rain and hot, sunny conditions throughout the day. Grow in low to medium light and water as the mix approaches dryness. This species likes intermediate to warm conditions and really likes to be kept on the moist side. We grow these in New Zealand sphagnum moss.
Our current batch of plants is flowering size and blooms can last for up to four months!
