Description
This extremely rare, slow-growing species from Borneo is truly an orchid connoisseur's specimen! This orchid produces fragrant, orange basal flowers that transition to spotted yellow flowers with less fragrance further down the spike. We recommend growing this species in a water-retentive mix, such as New Zealand sphagnum moss. As a tropical-growing species, this orchid is best suited for those cultivating their orchids in a warm outdoor climate or in a greenhouse.
Current offerings are seedlings in 2.25" pots with sphagnum moss. These can flower at a more compact size than lowii, and have bloomed before with 10" leaf span with a set of about 8 to 10 leaves. The current seedlings should reach blooming size by 2027 to 2028.
