Description
Stenorrhynchos speciosum is a terrestrial species native to Mexico and Central America. It is very easy to grow, producing huge, fleshy roots that thrive in terrestrial media such as peat moss or New Zealand sphagnum moss. Please note that this batch does not express the white spotting often seen on the foliage.
The large, bluish-green leaves give this plant an “orchid hosta” appearance. Flower spikes emerge in winter, typically blooming from late December through February. This species is highly tolerant of a wide range of temperatures and conditions, and it can grow into a magnificent specimen with multiple growths. Spikes reach 12–18 inches and are packed with many light red tubular flowers accented by a white lip, and last about 2+ months.
With its lush green foliage and festive red-and-white flowers, this is a perfect holiday gift orchid!
*Note: We have limited triple planted options, with one extra large plant included.
