This primary cross results in dark red to purple flowers, with darker bars across the petals. These are very fragrant with a sweet and slightly spicy scent. Never cut the flower spikes unless they are crispy brown, since live flower spikes will flower year after year. This subgenus typically flowers from spring to fall, but with artificial light can flower year-round.
