Description
We are offering seedlings of this majestic epiphytic species native to Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru. The cascading stems of flowers look like birds in flight and have a pleasant fragrance. This Gongora creates the longest inflorescence of all the Gongora, reaching lengths of 4 feet! If grown well, in 4 to 5 years you could have a specimen a large as the example in our photo!
It prefers low light, and is tolerant of cool to warm temperatures, making it quite easy to grow. This plant grows fairly fast, and these seedlings came out of the bottle in 2023. They have just been shifted to 2.25" pots and have nice root systems as of August 2024. We expect them to reach blooming size in 2026, but also expect some to flower in the fall of 2025 given their speed of growth.
This is a hard species to find currently in the USA. Produced from seed via our mother plant (pictured here) we've had since the 90's.
