This an amazing species from Machu Picchu Peru, often referred to as the 'Gallo-Gallo' which means rooster (because of their red combs). It should be noted that this plant is a shade-loving, cool grower that likes good humidity. Slightly challenging for many environments. The bay area in CA seems to be one of the best spots in the USA to grow this plant with little trouble. When conditions are just right, this plant will flower off and on, all year round.
