Description
One of the most colorful and large masdevallia flowers that exist. Native to Machu Picchu and surrounding areas in Peru. These plants have a 4.5 cm wide flower (at widest point) with a vertical height of 14 cm. These prefer cooler temps and can take a fair bit of light. We grow these in New Zealand sphagnum moss and water as the moss becomes damp and light in the pot but not bone dry. Repot every year and a half and only fertilize once per month.
This is one of the most difficult flowers to photograph as the intense orange flowers covered in iridescent purple hairs is can't seem to be captured correctly. This really is a vividly colored flower when seen in person.
